Queens of the Stone Age, the story of a legendary band

The band was formed in 1996, following the breakup of Kyuss. Their debut album, Queens of the Stone Age, featured only Josh Homme and Alfredo Hernandez. Later, Nick Oliveri, former bassist of the Dwarves, and guitarist Dave Catching joined the lineup. Their early works gained public approval, and Queens of the Stone Age became known as the new cornerstone band of Stoner Rock, a subgenre of Heavy Metal characterized by slow rhythms and low tunings. However, with the arrival of new members, the Queens of the Stone Age slightly changed their sound and specialized in Alternative/Progressive Rock. In 2001, Dave Grohl, frontman of Foo Fighters, joined the band and contributed to the creation of their third album, Songs for the Deaf, which was certified Gold in 2003 after selling over 900,000 copies. Thanks to their success, Queens of the Stone Age went mainstream and established themselves as one of the most important bands in the progressive rock genre. The following years were marked by their consecration. The band won several Emmys and was recognized as one of the most influential representatives of the progressive genre.
